Why Plant-derived Organic Colloidal Minerals? There are a number of different types of minerals available today. So what makes the Toddy minerals so different? Let's begin with the term 'colloidal' ... Colloidal refers to the size of a particle; one that neither sinks nor floats in water. Colloidal minerals are very small in size (far smaller than those in pills or powders) giving them a greater relative surface area, and this increased relative surface area leads to better absorption. But even more important than the fact that the minerals are colloidal is that the are organic, plant-derived minerals. Unlike the inorganic minerals mined from rock, clay or soil, organic plant-derived colloidal minerals, such as those found in Mineral Toddy, are actually from a prehistoric plant source. There are significant differences between organic and inorganic minerals. Organic plant-derived minerals have a pH of between 3.0 and 4.0, meaning they are acidic. They are naturally chelated with fulvic (vegetable) acids, making any further chelation unnecessary. This chelated state increases the absorption rate of the minerals. Another unique and important characteristic of plant-derived organic minerals which greatly increases their absorbability is that they carry a negative electromagnetic charge. The exterior of the intestinal cells carry a positive charge which attracts the negatively charged minerals. Positively charged inorganic minerals, on the other hand, are repelled by these intestinal cells, impeding absorption. Because organic, plant-derived minerals are water soluble and cannot be stored by the body for more than a few hours, they have no toxicity. Just like the organic aluminum found in foods such as bananas and cucumbers, the organic minerals found in Mineral Toddy provide a number of health benefits. Only inorganic minerals, which cannot be eliminated and are therefore often stored in the body's soft tissues, can lead to toxicity. So remember - not all minerals are created equal!
